Put on your dancing shoes

Put on your dancing shoes for an evening of family fun as the Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) Department hosts a Barn Dance on Friday, Oct. 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. The dance will be held inside the Wake Forest Community House, 133 W. Owen Ave. The event promises fun for the entire family and all ages are welcome. The cost is $5 in advance and $6 at the door. Koinonia reschedules its sale

Washed out over the weekend, Koinonia has rescheduled its sale of mums, pumpkins and other fall decorations, and the sale began Tuesday of this week and will continue through Thursday. The sale will be on the grounds of the Wake Forest Historical Museum at 414 North Main Street, and the hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, and 9 a.m. until the mums and other items are all gone or 8 p.m. The foundation is a Christian based organization founded 25 years ago from a Sunday School Class in WFBC to raise money and keep money on hand for those less fortunate who may need a little help with medical bills, utilities, food, appliances, clothing, etc.  They also contribute to other organizations such as Backpack Buddies, Hospice, ChurchNet, Tri-Area Ministries, Meals on Wheels, and SafeSpace, just to name a few.  This is the first annual Fall into Autumn event

Town advisory board seats open

All of Wake Forest’s 13 advisory board will have openings this fall as current members’ terms of office end. You can make a difference in our community by applying for one of the many upcoming vacancies on the town’s advisory boards. The boards were established to give citizens input into what happens in the community and to advise the Board of Commissioners on matters that affect citizens and their town government. 46 new homes permitted in August

The Wake Forest Inspections Department permitted 46 homes during August – 35 single-family houses and 11 townhouses. The department’s inspectors also visited the fit-ups for new businesses: Orange Theory Fitness at 12646 Capital Boulevard and a U-Haul showroom at 9701 Capital Boulevard. Pre-occupancy inspections were made for Gooey’s American Grille at 950 Gateway Commons Circle, Southern Love Studios at 1318 South Main Street, AMC Sales at 527 South White Street, Virgilio’s Premium Vinegars, Oils & Edibles at 1839 South Main Street,, and Inpax Shipping Solutions at 2820 Superior Drive. Wilson Parker Homes will build six townhouses from 432 to 446 Retreat Lane in the Richland Hills subdivision in the Richland Creek basin, and Dan Ryan Builders will build five townhouses also in the Richland Hills subdivision.
