*The Wake Forest Farmers Market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 10, in the Renaissance Plaza in front of the Renaissance Centre. Food, music and farm-fresh meats, vegetables and fruit, all raised within 75 miles.

*Public Power Week will be celebrated in Wake Forest the entire week of Oct. 4-10. Please see the article in this week’s issue to learn about all the activities and free stuff available.

*A Candidates Forum for the five people running for three seats on the Wake Forest Town Board will be held Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the second-floor board meeting room in Wake Forest Town Hall on Brooks Street. Jointly sponsored by the Town of Wake Forest and the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce, the questions for the candidates will be prepared by the chamber’s Government Affairs Committee.

*A Meet and Greet for the municipal candidates in Wake Forest, Rolesville, Wendell, Knightdale and Zebulon will be held Thursday, Oct. 15, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Knightdale Town Hall, 950 Steeple Square Court.

*Neck of the Woods returns to the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre Friday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. with a variety performance featuring local artists. See information about the performers, tickets and other details in this week’s issue.

*Wake Forest Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources will host a Barn Dance Friday, Oct 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Community House on West Owen Avenue. See details in the article in this week’s edition.

*The annual meeting of The Wake Forest College Birthplace Society will be held Sunday, Oct. 18, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Wake Forest Historical Association. The speaker will be Gene Boyce, who earned his undergraduate and law degrees on the old campus and went on to serve as assistant chief counsel to the Watergate Committee.

*The Wake Forest Chamber’s Business & Community Expo will be held Thursday, Oct. 29, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Richland Creek Community Church on Burlington Mills Road. It is sponsored by CenturyLink and is free to everyone.

*Chrismas is coming, though it is a while away. Mark you calendars now for A Walk Through Bethlehem Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 4, 5 and 6, at the Wake Forest Presbyterian Church. We will give you the times and other details as the time nears.
