St. Baldricks? A shave for a cure

On Saturday, March 1, a large number of people who have canvassed friends, family and coworkers for donations will line up in the Millroom at The Factory to have their heads shaved. Silly? Not at all. It is their way of raising money to help find a cure or cures for childhood cancer.

At last year’s St. Baldricks event in Wake Forest 335 people raised over $130,000 and emerged with bald heads.

This year’s event will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. because it takes a lot of time to cut and shave 300-plus heads.

There are a lot of sponsors, starting with The Factory and including five local hair salons: Who Does Your Hair, Tanas, Salon V, Over Your Head and Black Dog.

For fuel, PDQ will be on site selling chicken, fries, tea, lemonade and chocolate chip cookies while Ziggy’s will be selling pizzas.

To register for the event, go to www.stbaldricks.org/events/thefactory. The minimum to participate is $50. To learn more about the organization, go to http://www.st.baldricks.org/.
