Snowy romantic Art After Hours?

Love is in the air, Mary Benejam says at Two Dog Gallery, but even the warmth of hearts and flowers and chocolate may not be enough to overcome the snow and ice and cold predicted for the end of this week.

Benejam and other gallery owners were planning romantic heart-based themes for this month’s Art After Hours. With luck and little precipitation, the event in downtown Wake Forest from 5 p.m. until about 9 may be a welcome way for people to get out of the house on a Friday night.

Benejam is featuring a group of artists: Trish Nardozzi, Mary Margaret Steele, Maureen Seltzer, David Boone, Nancy Clapsaddle, Nancy Redman, Leslie Martin, Angelia Hayes, Mike O’Connell, David Bruno, Cathy McKay, Lisa Daly, Nicole St.Laurent, Diane Ness and herseslf.

She will also offer visitors refreshments and, about 7:30 p.m., music by Eugene Taylor on the drums.

There will be a whirl of activities and luscious offerings at Wake Forest Art & Frame. Owner Beth Massey will feature two artists who specialize in recycling.

Jamie Miller will show her R-3 Series – Reuse-Repurpose-Recycle – of jewelry made from hardware components. They really will make perfect Valentine’s Day gifts.

Karen Dillard creates Reuse-Repurpose-Recycle Folk Art Abstractions which could find their way into many local homes.

Meanwhile, there will be a Valentine’s Day card making project for children in the workroom in the shop.

But for those with a sweet tooth the best part about the evening at Wake Forest Art & Frame will be the Sweet Solutions by the Naked Baker. Robin MacMillan will soon open Sweet Solutions at 120 East Main Street in Rolesville and is preparing sweet, chic and unique offerings for Friday night.

Wake Forest Downtown – the former DRC – sponsors the monthly art walk and provides the horse and carriage rides along South White Street. Now that could be romantic with snow!
