Winter is traditional butchering time for farmers, and this winter you will find an outstanding selection of different meats as well as differently packaged meats at the Wake Forest Farmers Market on Saturday, Feb. 8, from 10 a.m. to noon.
First, you will find beef, pork, lamb, chicken rabbit, duck, quail and goat meat – and then you will discover it comes in a wide variety of cuts and preparations, from fresh chicken breast to several varieties of sausage to ham. You can ask the vendors how they raise their animals and you can be assured about the quality and the safety of the meat
Along with meats, shoppers will also find a variety of baked goods from sweat rolls to granola, fresh ground coffee, honey, eggs, greens and vegetables when the weather will allow, handmade knit goods and yarn, crafts, and cheese.
The market is open every Saturday with winter hours, 10 a.m. to noon, in the parking lot behind CVS. Spring and longer hours arrive on the first of April.
Keep track of all the hours, all the events and all the vendors on Facebook or at www.wakeforestfarmersmarket.org.
