Fill a vacancy, make a difference

You can make a difference in our community by applying to fill one of the vacancies on the Cemetery Advisory Board (CAB), Recreation Advisory Board (RAB) and Planning Board.

Residents of Wake Forest and its extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) may apply for one of the two openings on the CAB and the lone vacancy on the RAB. Only persons living in the town’s ETJ are eligible to apply for the Planning Board opening.

The town’s advisory boards were established to give citizens input into what happens in the community and to advise the Board of Commissioners on matters that affect citizens and their town government.

Completed applications will be accepted until 5 p.m., Monday, June 16, and may be mailed or delivered to Town Clerk Deeda Harris, Wake Forest Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St., Wake Forest, NC 27587 or faxed to 919-435-9419.

CAB applicants will have the opportunity to appear before the CAB on Wednesday, June 25, at 7 p.m. RAB applicants are invited to attend the RAB meeting on Monday, June 23, at 6:30 p.m. Both meetings will be held in the ground floor meeting room at town hall, 301 S. Brooks St.

Planning Board applicants will have the chance to appear before the Planning Board on Tuesday, July 1, at 5:30 p.m. in the town hall board chambers.

The Board of Commissioners will announce the appointments during its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 15. Terms for the new appointees will commence immediately.
