Board will discuss new manager search

There will be no planning board meeting in January

When the mayor and five town commissioners meet for their monthly work session on Tuesday, Jan. 6, they will discuss how to recruit a new town manager, something that has not been done in Wake Forest since 1993 when Mark Williams was appointed. He announced last week he would retire as of April 30.

The work session begins at 5:30 p.m. in the second-floor meeting room in the Wake Forest Town Hall on Brooks Street.

Usually the Wake Forest Planning Board meets the same night at 7:30 p.m. and the two boards sit together for the public hearings about planning and zoning matters. In January, however, there is no business ready for the planning board and it has been cancelled.

The town board will also discuss the monthly financial report and review the draft agenda for the Jan. 20 regular business meeting.

Commissioner Greg Harrington has asked to have an item on the agenda, a discussion about purchasing some land near the CSX railroad tracks from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

All meetings are open to the public and also broadcast live on Channel 10. Please go to the town website, www.wakeforestnc.gov, for the days and times when the meetings are re-broadcast.
