The Wireless Research Center of North Carolina (WRCNC) has begun a new testing program that offers significant discounts for universities, research and non-profit institutions utilizing the center’s testing facilities. The center will offer half hour test blocks to research partners, saving them significantly over the four hour minimum for commercial accounts, and receive pricing discounts in addition.
“We chose the word ‘research’ for our name quite purposefully,” said Dr. Gerard Hayes, president and founder of The Wireless Research Center of North Carolina. “Our goal is to create an inclusionary relationship within the larger research community and ensure that research projects have easy egress into the Wireless Research Center. This new program allows institutions to take full advantage of the testing capabilities, facilities and equipment at WRCNC, and continue our mission of becoming a public asset for commercial and academic endeavors.”
As a non-profit 501(3) (C) organization, the center’s resources are available to all Fortune 100 companies, entrepreneurs, and research institutions. The center’s staff has deep rooted experience in the academic and research environment and knows the budgetary challenges of many institutions. This is why the center has created special researcher pricing and offerings for its services and equipment.
The center is an independent research organization, and is ISO 17025 accredited and CTIA certified for over-the-air (OTA) testing of cellular devices. Unique to this non-profit is the ability to offer guidance for regulatory requirements, such as for the FCC, and analysis of how well products align with industry standards. Beginning in 2014, the center will provide portable test capabilities to facilitate implementation of regional wireless networks (rural broadband expansion, air-to-ground systems, emergency networks, tele-medicine, and smart-grid technologies).
