The Wegmans grocery store in Wake Forest will be the fourth in the state, opening in the late spring of 2021, shortly after a Chapel Hill store. There are already Wegmans in Raleigh (2019), also the chain’s 100th store, and in Cary, which opened this summer.
A Wegmans spokesman, Laura Camera, said the Wake Forest store on the N.C. 98 Bypass and Ligon Mill Road begun hiring about 400 people for fulltime jobs on Sept. 14. They will be trained in either the Raleigh or Cary store. If you want to apply, go to https://jobs.wegmans.com. There is no announcement yet when hiring for part-time jobs in the Wake Forest store will begin.
Hiring for fulltime positions in the Chapel Hill store is still underway; hiring for part-time jobs in that store will begin in October. There are already more than 900 Wegmans employees in the state. When the chain announced in 2016 that it was coming to North Carolina it said it planned six stores in the Raleigh-Durham area.
“When we visited the Raleigh-Durham area in 2014, we quickly saw that the area had everything we were looking for,” said Ralph Uttaro, Senior Vice President of Real Estate and Development. “With the population expanding rapidly, we saw the potential for it to become a multi-store market. Our timing was perfect, as multiple real estate opportunities quickly presented themselves.”

In the news release Camera sent with her email, there was this statement: “One of our first priorities as we break ground on a new store is to establish relationships in the community. Everyone here cant wait for the store to open..I already know 3 managers from the local walmart who are going over to Wegmans. Too bad it will not be ready this year but progress is going like gangbusters. Ligon will widening is in full process, its going to be great!!
