Spring is here!

News from Tri-Area Monistry

It won’t be long till all those buds popping out will turn to flowers and leaves. The pleasant weather is a blessing to our volunteers, as we primarily operate outdoors for sorting, packing and distributing food.
2021 wrapped up to be a record year in which we served 11,578 families (26,918 people). That’s an increase of 10% from 2020 and an increase of 30% from 2019. On 2/2/2022 we fed the most families ever in our 30-year history on a single day – 202.

We were able to provide each and every one of those families with 100 pounds of food – including milk, bread, eggs, butter, meat, fruit, vegetables plus non-perishables like rice, beans, cereal, pasta and canned goods. An astounding 20,200 pounds (10 TONS) of food made its’ way to our neighbors’ tables in a single day.
Because of the generosity of YOU – our #community – we are able to provide a consistent supply of nutritious food for our neighbors. As our stockpile of end-of-year donations has dwindled, we thank you for your continued support, both in food and monetary donations. Your help is more important now than ever, as higher food prices impact us and those we feed.
Donations Food donations are accepted at the pantry (149 E Holding Avenue, Wake Forest) and at drop off locations throughout town. You can also order from our Amazon Wish List and items are delivered directly to us. Monetary donations are accepted via our website.
Stop Hunger Feed Hope We’re excited to announce that our annual Stop Hunger Feed Hope Dinner Auction fundraiser will take place again this year. Mark your calendars for Friday, October 28. We’ll have a new venue and an exciting new format. We’re really looking forward to getting to see all of you once again at this fun event. More information soon as we finalize the details.

Community Gardens  Community gardens that share a bounty of fresh vegetables with us during the growing season are gearing up to start spring planting. These gardens are a great opportunity for families to get involved in the #community, learn something about gardening and get out there and dig in the dirt.  For more information about how you help at Wake Forest Baptist Church Community Connections Garden, LifePointe Community Garden, Wake Forest Presbyterian Church Community Garden or Northeast Coalition Community Garden, drop us a note and we’ll get you connected.
Community Events  Look for at these #community events:  Family Expo, held on 3/26/22 at the Wake Forest Renaissance Center. And Meet in the Street in downtown Wake Forest on 5/7/22.
Lastly, we’d be remiss if we did not acknowledge our team of volunteers.  We can only do what we do because of your hard work, and it is appreciated beyond measure.
On behalf of our Board of Directors, thank you for your continued support!  #StopHungerFeedHope
