During August the Wake Forest Inspections Department issued permits for 44 single-family houses and 19 townhouse units.
One single-family permit is for a lot on Copper Beech Lane, leading the editor to assume – always the wrong decision – that it is for a house in the Tryon subdivision which was just approved in July. A trip out Juniper Avenue/Oak Grove Church Road to Copper Beech Lane proved the assumption wrong. The land – and the lane – are just as they were in June – wooded, undisturbed and, in the case of the lane, a maze of unavoidable ruts and potholes. However, if you continue and take the left at the only crossroads, you are suddenly in Kings Glen subdivision where there is a lot of activity and a street called Copper Beech Lane. But it would be best to wait for road improvements before checking this out for yourself.
Four of the 19 townhouses are under construction on Magnolia Forest Court off Durham Road. The builder is Cornett Custom Homes, which paid $7,447.44 in fees for each unit. They will each be 2,110 sq. ft. with an improvement value, as supplied by the builder, of $105,155.
Another four townhouses will be built by CH Construction on Winter Wren Circle, part of the retirement-style townhouses between Caveness Farm Apartments and the N.C. 98 bypass, the Dr. Calvin Jones Highway. CH Construction paid $24,447.22 in fees for the units that will have a value between $185,000 and $205,000 with size under 3,000 sq. ft. The subdivision is the Villas of Wake Forest.
The 11 townhouses Dan Ryan Builders is constructing in the Franklin County portion of Richland Hills subdivision on Montonia Street will all have a value of $81,407 and be just under 2,000 sq. ft. in size. The total in fees was $47,129.59.
There were no permits for commercial buildings in August.
