Tyrone ‘Ty’ Hedrick

Franklin Tyrone “Ty” Hedrick, 68, died Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at the Durham VA Medical Center.
Ty was born in Franklin County, the son of the late Alice Parham Hedrick and Frank Tounsin Hedrick. He was a graduate of Millbrook High School, was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of Franklinton Baptist Church. Ty worked with Waste Industries from 1970 until 1986, but his passion was building classic cars and participating in car shows.
Funeral services was held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, February 21, 2015, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Ebenezer UMC Cemetery in Franklinton.
Ty is survived by his son, TJ Hedrick of Wake Forest; daughter, Robyn Hedrick of Raleigh; grandchildren, Khloe and Xander Watson of Raleigh; TJ and Robyn’s mother, Debbie Hedrick of Louisburg; daughter, Pam Hedrick Doyle of Wendell; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Crystal), Angela (Byron) and Katy; great-grandchild, Skyler; Pam’s mother, Carolyn Bernice Hedrick; brother, Gary Hedrick (Jean) of Wake Forest; sister, Patricia Peace of Spring Hope; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ty was preceded in death by his infant brother, Richard Earl Hedrick, and by his sister, Phoebe Carol Hedrick Huffman.

Joseph Willis Richardson
Wake Forest
Joseph Willis Richardson, 78, of Wake Forest, passed away Wednesday evening, February 11, 2015, at his home.
He was born in Wake County, the son of the late Henry Richardson and Euzelia Lowery Richardson. He was a graduate of Wake Forest University and was a retired statistician with the Employment Security Commission.
Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Saturday morning, February 14, 2015, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Richardson is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kathy Carter Richardson; son, Patrick Richardson of Wake Forest; grandson, Tristan Richardson of Wake Forest; sister, Virgie Denton of Wake Forest; nephews, Stanley Denton and wife, Cynthia, and Tony Denton, all of Wake Forest.

Paul Edward Dew
Raleigh
Paul Dew, age 84, of Raleigh passed away peacefully February 10, 2015. Paul was born April 16, 1930, in Nash County, the son of the late William Albert Dew and Maggie Elizabeth Murray Dew.
He graduated from Charles L. Coon High School in Wilson, where he was voted most valuable football player. His love for North Carolina and agriculture began in Bailey.
Paul met his soul mate while living in Raleigh to attend NCSU and was married to Alice Wood from Louisburg in March 1953. That same year he graduated with a B.S. in vocational agriculture and began his long and successful career in agriculture by teaching in Surry County. After serving in the army from 1954 to 1956, Paul returned as an agriculture extension agent and continued to further his education. He got his masters in education in 1959 and his doctorate in 1976 and worked in Ag Extension in North Carolina until his retirement in 1991. Even after retirement he continued to serve the state and agriculture as Executive VP of NC Agribusiness until 1998.
In his spare time, Paul loved carpentry and enjoyed working in his shop making numerous pieces of furniture that his family continues to treasure. He was a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church serving for many years as an adult Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and as Chairman of the Deacons. He enjoyed sports and supporting the NC State Wolfpack. You could find him watching the latest game no matter what season it was!
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Alice Wood Dew; along with three children all in Raleigh; son, Tim Dew and wife, Beth; daughter, Denise Garner and husband, Tim Garner, and son, Edward Dew, and wife, Jennifer. He had seven grandchildren whom he loved, spoiled and cherished; David, Lee, Scott, Emily, Suzanne, Heather and Shelby.
A memorial service was held at 11 o’clock, Saturday morning, February 14, 2015, in the Auditorium at Springmoor Retirement Community where they have lived for seven years. A private family burial was held at Raleigh Memorial Park.

Mollie Brunson Rivers

Mollie Brunson Rivers, 101, of Beaufort, S.C., formerly of Wake Forest, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at the Helena Place in Port Royal, S.C. She was born in Sumter, S.C., the daughter of the late Maria Hepburn Brunson and William E. Brunson, Sr.
A memorial service was held at 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, February 15, 2015, at Saint John’s Episcopal Church in Wake Forest. A private entombment was held in the Wake Forest Town Cemetery.
Mrs. Rivers is survived by her daughter, Mollie Rivers Apollony of East Aurora, NY; four grandchildren, Frank L. Dancy, Carey Dancy Meyer, Ashley A. Adair and John R. Apollony; and four great-grandchildren, Bishop and Isabella Dancy, and Aiden and Charlie Apollony. Mrs. Rivers was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Rivers, and by her daughter, Ruth Rivers Dancy.

Minnie Lee Eason Wellman
Raleigh
Minnie Lee Eason Wellman, 77, passed away February 9, 2015. at Rex Hospital. She was born August 4, 1937, to Charles Bernard Eason and Grace Irene Bunn of Johnston County.
Growing up in Johnston County, she graduated from Selma High School in 1955 as salutatorian and secretary of her graduating class. After high school she attended Atlantic Christian College in Wilson. In 1957 she married John Wilson Wellman of Mann, W.Va., and they settled in Raleigh.
She started her career in advertising with the JT Howard agency before becoming an original member of the McKinney & Silver Advertising Agency. Working at the agency for over thirty years, she retired as Senior Vice President of Production. She worked for the Chisholm Agency for a short time before retiring again to then become personal assistant for Charles McKinney. She loved antiques. Most recently, she enjoyed working with her dear friends at Affordable Chic.
In addition to her parents, her husband preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Jacquelyn Labus (Charlottesville) and her husband, Jim, and grandchildren, Alexandra and Connor.
The family would like to thank the many wonderful family and friends who have helped and supported us with your thoughts, deeds and prayers. A special thank you to the many doctors, nurses and staff at Rex Hospital and Cancer Center, and Universal Healthcare of North Raleigh who provided care during her illness.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Millbrook United Methodist Church, 1712 East Millbrook Road, Raleigh. Friends are invited to celebrate Lee’s life in the church youth building immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Lung Association or the charity of your choice.
