Michael Holop Jr.

Michael Holop Jr., 79, of Wake Forest passed away Monday, July 28, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Slovakia to the late Michael Holop Sr. and Elizabeth Scilacgy Holop.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at a later date at St. Raphael’s the Archangel Catholic Church in Raleigh.

Mr. Holop is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lillian Rezas Holop; children, Michael Martin Holop, Loretta Ann Skowronsky of Currie, Sandra Marie Holop of Wake Forest and Debra Marie Staimpel of Raleigh; grandchildren, Rachel Ann Skowronsky of Greenville, Heather Ann Staimpel of Plano, Texas, and Joshua Martin Staimpel of Raleigh; and brothers, Walter Holop and Albert Holop both of Cleveland, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ludwig Holop.

Johnny Macon Pleasants

Johnny Macon Pleasants, 57, of Franklinton, died Thursday, August 7, 2014. During Johnny’s life he was able to mentor youth through the Back on Track Program. He took great pride in being able to use his life and his experiences to help others.

A memorial service was held at 6 o’clock Tuesday evening, August 12, 2014, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home.

Mr. Pleasants is survived by his daughters, Nicole Carlyle and husband, Steve, of Zebulon, Brittany Pleasants of Bunn and Brittany Storm of Franklinton; grandchildren, Wyatt and Nicholas Carlyle; brother, Justin Pleasants of Jacksonville; and many extended family members and great friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Fleming “Buddy” Pleasants; his mother, Frances Satterwhite Hall; and by his brother, Joseph Pleasants.

Rev. Gene J. Mangum

Rev. Gene Julian Mangum, 69, of Wake Forest passed away Saturday morning, August 9, 2014, at Universal Healthcare in Raleigh.

He was born in Wake County, the son of the late Sam Mangum and Esther Murray Mangum, and was a retired Operations Manager with the City of Raleigh Water Treatment Plant Operations. Rev. Mangum was a long time Church of God minister and was a faithful member of Living Springs Church of God in Franklinton. He has touched many lives through his ministries.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, August 12, 2014, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Collier and the Rev. Robert Piper officiating. Burial was in the Falls Community Cemetery.

Rev. Mangum is survived by his sister, Kathy Mangum Davis and husband, Earl, of Wake Forest; step-daughter, Luella Sauls of Macclesfield; grandsons, David Sauls and Jonathan Sauls, both of Cumming, Ga.; and several nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rev. Lenora Jones Mangum, and by his sisters, Bonnie Mangum Pearce and Linda Mangum Walker.

Pallbearers were Carson Bell, Cleathen Bell, Michael Bell, Doug Evans, Adam Medlin, and Sean Medlin.

Donald G. Gibbons Jr.

Donald Gregory Gibbons Jr., 54, of Wake Forest died Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at Rex Hospital. He was born in Astoria, N.Y., and was a Senior Mechanical Engineer with Schneider Electric for the past 16 years.

Services were held at 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, August 8, 2014, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church & Cemetery, Somers, N.Y.

Mr. Gibbons is survived by his wife of 31 years, Eileen Keane Gibbons; children, Krysten Gibbons, Donald G. Gibbons III, Amanda Gibbons and Gael Gibbons, all of Wake Forest; grandchildren, Morgan Pollock and Colin Gibbons; parents, Donald G. Gibbons Sr. and Joan Patricola Gibbons of Somers, N.Y.; brother, Robert Gibbons of Croton Falls, N.Y.; and sisters, Maureen Cole and husband, Thomas, of North Salem, N.Y., and Karen Jahn and husband, Richard, of South Salem, N.Y.

Floyd Thomas Heath

Floyd Thomas Heath, 68, of Raleigh passed away Monday evening, August 4, 2014, at Wake Medical Center. He was born in Wilson County, the son of the late Floyd Heath and Dorothy Page Heath.

Funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Thursday morning, August 7, 2014, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Shannon Scott officiating. Burial was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Tom was retired from UPS Feeder Department with many years of dedicated service and treasured friends. He loved his family and friends and shared his special gift of “having never met a stranger.” His passions included fishing and his classic 1964 Impala Super Sport. He also loved to spend his free time at the family’s beach house. For anyone who knew Tom, his amazing memory abilities left a lasting impression.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Cynthia S. Heath; son, Randall Feimster; daughter-in-law, Patricia Feimster; two cherished grandchildren, Colton and Kyla Feimster, who lovingly referred to him as “Papa T”; sister, Barbara H. Radford; brother-in-law, Ray Radford; step-brother, Buddy Mumford and wife Sue; as well as many other family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his step-mother, Cynthia B. Heath, and step-brother, Earl Mumford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Tom’s memory to Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 7600 Falls of the Neuse Road, Raleigh, NC 27615.

Vaughn P. Adams III

Vaughn P. Adams III of Wake Forest passed away quietly on August 1, 2014.

He is survived by parents, Vaughn Adams Jr. (Polly) of Tempe, Arizona, and Lucy Adams of Kauai, Hawaii; two brothers; four step-brothers, two sisters; and four nieces; and three nephews.

Private services were held on Saturday, August 9, 2014.

Robert H. Rice

Robert Harper Rice, 88, of Youngsville died August 12, 2014, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. He was born in Edgecombe County, the son of the late Charlie Rice and Myrtle Perry Rice.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:30 Thursday afternoon, August 14, 2014, at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 2124 Oak Grove Church Road Youngsville.

Mr. Rice is survived by his sons, Phillip L. Rice of Wake Forest, David Rice and wife, Alice, of Zebulon, Robert Rice and wife, Pamela, of Zebulon, and Mark Rice and wife, Shirley of Manson; sisters, Mildred Timberlake of Youngsville and Betsy Ann Rogers of Youngsville; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his wife, Versteen Wanda Rice.
