Leighanne Christine Harper
Leighanne Christine Harper, infant daughter of Heather Binion Harper and Jerre L. Harper Jr. of Youngsville, entered eternal life in the arms of Jesus Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Duke University Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, July 29, 2014, at Faith Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Leighanne is survived by her sister, Olivia Harper; grandparents, Arthur Binion of Braceville, Ohio, and Latricia Harper of Leavittsburg, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Barbara Binion, and grandfather, Jerre Lee Harper Sr.

Henry C. ‘Buddy’ Harris
Henry C. “Buddy” Harris of Wake Forest peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord July 28, 2014. Born in Beaufort County, he was the son of the late Leroy and Lorena Hardison Harris. Buddy was a proud veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He attended The Cincinnati Bible Seminary, William and Mary College, and East Carolina College.
Buddy was the owner/operator of several business, most notably Bennie’s Grill in Wake Forest. He was a good man, a hard-working man, dedicated to his family, and a friend to many. His compassion toward others was great.
Buddy was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Evelyn Harris, in October 2011. He selflessly spent the last years of her life caring for her in her illness, making sure her every need and want was met. Buddy was an example of Ephesians 5:25, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her.” He was also preceded in death by a sister, Frances Brown, and a great-grandson, Christian Sullivan.
Buddy is survived by his daughters Dianne Browning (Jerry) of Cedar Point, Karen Daniels (George) of Washington, and Pam Oliver (Mark) of Zebulon; a son, Michael Harris (Gena) of Summerville, S.C.; sisters, Betty Jo Osborne and Edna Sukeforth; eleven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
A funeral service honoring his life was held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, July 30, 2014, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens with military honors.

Janet Helena Briggs Roth
Janet Helena Briggs Roth of Raleigh died peacefully on July 27, 2014, at Falls River Court & Village attended by her family.
She was born in Monroe, Maine, on January 2, 1939, and graduated from Bridgton Academy in 1957. She graduated from Bryant College in 1959 and was a member of Sigma Lambda Theta.
After college, she moved to Washington, D.C., to work for the Central Intelligence Agency. Here she met and married Robert Roth and they raised their family in northern Virginia’s Fairfax and Loudoun Counties. They continued to live in Virginia until her retirement in 1998 and finally settled in Raleigh in 2005 to be near family.
She led an active childhood as the daughter of a Game Warden and enjoyed a life-long love of fishing and the outdoors. Although she lived in Virginia for over 40 years, she never lost her New England “Maine-iac” accent or appreciation for the value of a hard day’s work. She rarely passed an opportunity to go antiquing, collect stamps, knit winter hats, or offer up her quick wit with a joke. Janet was a Master Gardener, skilled cook, and enjoyed the adventure of raising her boys on a farm.
She was predeceased by her parents, George Willis Briggs and Selda Arabelle Barden Briggs, as well as her son, Robert Martin Roth.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Roth; sister, Doris Briggs Wunderlich and husband, Donald Wunderlich, of Cape Girardeau, Misouri; son Joseph Roth and wife, Jeanne, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; son, Jonathan Roth and wife, Jacqueline, of Wake Forest; daughter-in-law, Tresa Roth of Gurley, Alabama; and 11 grandchildren, Alexa, Holly, Kelsey, Haley, Amy, Camryn, Taylor, Jack, Heather, Kyle and Alison.

Edwin Hunter Averette
Edwin Hunter Averette, 83, of Franklinton, formerly of Raleigh, passed away peacefully in his home Sunday morning, July 27, 2014. Born July 29, 1930, in Granville County, Mr. Averette was the son of the late Roy and Dora Averette and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He retired from the General Services Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where he worked as a HVAC tech and in general maintenance of federal facilities. He also worked as a lineman with CP&L and as an independent refrigeration contractor. Mr. Averette was a faithful member, deacon, and Sunday School teacher at Franklinton Baptist Church.
Services to celebrate his life will be held at 7 o’clock Friday evening, August 1, 2014 at Franklinton Baptist Church.
Mr. Averette was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Clora Britt Averette, as well as by four brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Jones of Randleman, Becky Trevillian (Jim) of Youngsville, and Nancy Garvey (Chris) of Durham, and son, David Averette (Dottie) of Franklinton. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Jewel Sauls of Garner; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Franklinton Senior Center or to the charity of your choice.
Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service and one hour following the service.
