*The Wake Forest Farmers Market will be open its regular summer hours, 8 a.m. to noon, on Saturday, Aug. 2, in the parking lot behind CVS.

*Concert in the Park, an evening of hymns and gospel music at E. Carroll Joyner Park beginning at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3. It will feature The Branchettes with Wilbur Tharpe and Lena Mae Perry. The concert is free.

*The Wake Forest Womans Club will sponsor the 2nd annual Bowl-A-Thon Sunday, Aug. 3, at Brooks Street Bowl starting at 1:30 p.m. See article in this week’s issue for all the information.

*The Forest Storytelling Festival will be held at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre Saturday, Aug 9. See article in this week’s issue for more information.

*The Wake Forest Purple Heart Dinner will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Wake Forest Presbyterian Church. See details in this week’s issue.

*The Greater Franklin County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the 25th Annual Tar River Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, in downtown Louisburg.
