Charles Alfred Slagle

Lanett, Alabama

Charles Alfred Slagle, 90, of Lanett, Alabama, passed away peacefully Tuesday

evening, July 26, 2016, at Carillon Assisted Living of Wake Forest. He was born September 11, 1925, in Roanoke, Alabama, the son of the late Walter J. Slagle and Agatha Higgins Slagle.

Mr. Slagle retired from West Point Pepperell with after over 40 years of service and was a veteran of the United States Army, having fought at the Battle of Okinawa during World War II.

Funeral services were held at Saturday July 30, 2016, at Lanett First United Methodist Church. Burial was in Resthaven Cemetery.

Mr. Slagle is survived by his children, Charles Alfred “Al” Slagle Jr. and wife,

Teresa, of Johns Creek, Georgia, and Donna Slagle Blakely and husband, Lee, of Raleigh; grandchildren, Brad Slagle and wife, Arielle, Karen Blakely Howle and husband, Ty, Mallory Blakely and Abby Blakely; and great-grandchildren, Rylan Slagle and Scarlett Slagle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Slagle, and siblings, Guy Slagle, Berniece Slagle, Wendell Slagle, Catherine Landrum, Doris Slagle, and Billy Slagle

Linda Gosnell Barnett Watkins

Youngsville

Linda Gosnell Barnett Watkins, 75, of Youngsville passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016, at her residence. She was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Mary Edna Jones Gosnell and Henry Lloyd Gosnell ,and was a retired administrator with the State of North Carolina.

Funeral services honoring her life were held at 7 o’clock Tuesday evening, August 2, 2016, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home.

She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Barnett Horne and her husband, Richard, of Morehead City; a son, Eddie Barnett and his wife, Judith, of Hillsborough; a sister, Anna Jones of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Riley and Laura Horne and Emily and Caroline Barnett; nieces and nephews, Susan, Lynn, Leigh and Paul Gosnell, and Tim and Ted Beasley; and a brother-in-law, Ellis Beasley.  She was preceded in death by her husband Lattie R. Watkins

Joshua Edward Johnson

Raleigh

Joshua “Josh” Edward Jones, 28, of Raleigh went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 25, 2016. Josh was born August 5, 1987, in Elkin, the son of Edward “Ed” Oscar Jones and Robin Cockerham Jones.

Josh had a big heart and was a very caring person who loved family and enjoyed making them laugh with his dry sense of humor. He was happiest when he was traveling, cooking, taking photographs, antiquing with his dad, fishing with his grandma and aunt, running with his mom, movie-going with his brother and spending time with his precious animals Sasha and Mistro. He will always be remembered for his love of nature and wildlife.

Josh graduated from Vance Granville Community College with an associate in applied science degree in web technology. He was employed with AMS Software in Wake Forest for the last five years where he provided IT support and training for clients all over the country.

Josh is survived by his parents, Ed and Robin Jones of Wake Forest; brother, Tanner Jones and his fiancé, Rebecca Fleming of Greenville; grandparents, Shelby Puckett Canter of Dobson and Sylvia Moore Howard of Sanford; grandfather and step-grandmother, Oscar and Brenda Jones of Sanford; great-grandmother, Pauline Puckett of Mount Airy; and several special aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his step-grandfather, Stan Howard of Sanford; great-grandfather, Howard Puckett of Mount Airy; great-grandparents, Cleo and Kathleen Jones of Fuquay-Varina, and Rufus and Letha Moore of Fuquay-Varina.

A memorial visitation and service was held on July 30, 2016, at Bright Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Burial was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, Josh would be grateful to those who could make a donation to their local animal shelter or favorite charity.
