Dorothy Bell Burnette

Dorothy Bell Burnette, 77, of Welcome died Sunday morning, April 6, 2014, at her residence. She was born in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Nellie Pearce Bell Potts and William Cleathen Bell. She was preceded in death by a brother, E.C. Bell, and by a sister, Bobbie Bell Hill.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon April 9, 2014 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. Burial was in the Flat Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Teresa Spencer of Welcome and Debbie Vermeulen of Winston-Salem; sisters, Rebecca Walker of Roxboro, Carolyn Blackburn of Durham and Bonnie Bell Campos of Wake Forest; a brother, Carson Bell of Louisburg; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Sidney Albert Jones

Sidney Albert Jones, 68, of Franklinton passed away Friday, April 4, 2014, at Franklin Medical Center. He was born in Durham County, the son of the late Tully Enos Jones and Elizabeth Kelly Jones.

A celebration of Mr. Jones’ life was held at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, April 9, 2014, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home.

Mr. Jones is survived by his son, Michael Tully and his companion, Jillian Davis of Franklinton; grandchildren, Dawson Scott Jones, Waylon Jones, Chris Jones, Erica Jones and Scott Trigger Jones; sister, Shirley Hamilton of Apex; sister-in-law, Diane Perry and husband, Earl, of Wake Forest; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Ronald Massenburg Sr.

Mr. Ronald Massenburg Sr., 59, of 5912 Dalton Road, Fayetteville, departed this life on Friday, April 4, 2014. He grew up on Juniper Avenue in Wake Forest and was a member of the 1968 DuBois High School football team that won the state championship.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 11, at 12 noon in the Wiseman Mortuary Chapel, 431 Cumberland Street, Fayetteville.

There will be a viewing Thursday, April 10, from 2 to 7 p.m., and the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Chapel.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Ethel; son, Ronald Massenburg Jr.; brothers, David, Shelton and Antonio Harris; sister, Vanessa Kerry; and a host of relatives and friends.
