John Ernest Floyd Jr.

Wake Forest, formerly Norlina

John Ernest Floyd, Jr., 75, of 968 Wait Avenue, Wake Forest, formerly of Norlina, died Saturday evening, April 2, 2016, at Hillside Nursing and Rehab Center. Mr. Floyd was born in Warren County, the son of the late John Ernest Floyd, Sr. and Gracie Perkinson Floyd. He served in the United States Army as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. After his years in the military, he was a diesel mechanic and truck driver.

Mr. Floyd is survived by his sons, John Ernest Floyd III (Mary) of Norfolk Virginia; Charles Randall Floyd (Linda) of Youngsville; Thomas Cecil Floyd (Edna) of Wake Forest; Roscoe Travis Floyd of LaCrosse, Virginia; grandchildren, Haley Floyd (Aaron) of Wake Forest; Joe Conley of Bridgetown, Ohio, James Conley of Emporia, Virginia; Jesse Goodman (Elle) of Wake Forest, and Jessica Floyd of Youngsville; four great-grandchildren and one on the way; and sisters, Mildred Mae Floyd Wilson of Salisburg, Maryland; Gertrude Floyd Hundley of Newton; Kaye Floyd Fairer of Danville, Virginia, and Deborah Floyd Younts of Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his wife Dolly Louise Floyd.

The family has chosen not to have a visitation or service. There will be a private service at a later date.
