*The Wake Forest Farmers Market will be open in Renaissance Plaza on Saturday, April 9, with its regular spring, summer and fall hours, 8 a.m. to noon.

*Friday Night on White, a free monthly music series in downtown Wake Forest, will begin Friday, April 8, featuring the Magic Pipers Band. Adults will be able to purchase beer and carry the beverages on designated streets, there will be food trucks, and people are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for comfort while listening to the band. The fun goes on from 6 to 9 p.m.

*Heritage Day at Rockcliff Farm is a treat for the whole family on Saturday, April 9, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Follow the signs on N.C. 98 west of Wake Forest to turn on to Stony Hill Road and then to Bent Road. See article in this week’s issue.

*A Senior Lifestyle Expo hosted by the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce and Carillon Senior Living will be held Tuesday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Richland Creek Community Church on Burlington Mills Road.

*Shred it on Friday, April 15, when free shredding services will be available at the parking lot for the Renaissance Centre for the Arts parking lot between noon and 7 p.m.

*The Old Campus Trek, an annual event at the Wake Forest Birthplace (the Calvin Jones House), brings students from the university in Winston-Salem and alumni from all over back to the original Wake Forest College campus. It will take place Saturday, April 23, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Calvin Jones House and Wake Forest Historical Museum on North Main Street. Activities include guided tours of the campus. At 1:30 p.m. Provost Emeritus Dr. Edwin G. Wilson and Professor Jenny Puckett will lead a program, “Then and Now,” featuring stories from the old campus. Advance registration is required. *The annual Arbor Day Celebration & Tree Seedling Giveaway will take place Saturday, April 23, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in E. Carroll Joyner Park with lots of tree and nature activities.

*Enjoy lunch and Midday Music at Miller, a chance to unwind during a busy day during May in Miller Park along Franklin Street. It is free and plans are to have food trucks or other food facility available.

*Meet in the Street, Wake Forest’s popular spring street festival, will take over downtown streets on Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

*The annual Wake Forest Cemetery Tour will take place Saturday, May 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It is free to all comers interested in the history and the people in the town cemetery on North White Street.

*The Mad Hatters Tea Party & Art Market, the Wake Forest Garden Club’s major fundraising activity, will be held Saturday, May 14, at the Wake Forest Historical Museum, 414 North Main Street. Shop the market or buy tickets for the tea and garden seminars.

*This is definitely a ways away, but dog and pet lovers will want to mark their calendars for Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24 and 25, when the fourth annual Dirty Dogs Pet Extravaganza will take place in E. Carroll Joyner Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. One of the events will be the Ultimate Air Dogs competition and show. More later.
