Host families needed for exchange students

There are five seats available at two local high schools for exchange students in the coming school year, one seat at Wake Forest High and four seats at Rolesville High. The only part missing is host families for the five students sponsored by the World Heritage Student Exchange Programs.

The high school students are boys and girls from Scandinavia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Thailand, China, South Korea and the former Soviet Republics. The students are excited and are already awaiting word about their host families for the 2014/15 academic school year (or semester). Host families provide room, board, and guidance for a foreign teenager living thousands of miles from home. Couples, single parents, and families with or without children living at home are all encouraged to apply.

The exchange students arrive from their home countries before the 2014/15 school year begins and each World Heritage student is fully insured, brings his/her own spending money, and expects to bear his/her share of household responsibilities as well as be included in normal family activities and lifestyles.

If you are interested in opening your home and sharing your family life with a young person from abroad, please contact local Area Representative Erin Kalbarczyk at (919)924-4679 or email her at erin.kalbarczyk@gmail.com.  She has hosted four students herself, and has experience identifying students in the program who will be a good fit for any family willing to welcome a new son or daughter for an academic year.  You can also call 1-800-888-9040 (toll-free). Please also visit World Heritage’s website at www.whHosts.com.
