Go to the health fair Thursday

Experts say older people should get out and get moving, and that is easy and pleasurable if you get out and go to the Northern Wake Senior Center on East Holding Avenue.

First put a big star on your calendar on Thursday, Oct. 9, from 9 a.m. to noon for the Annual Health Fair & Flu Shots. This event is also open to the public. There will be free screenings, health information, door prizes and more.

Another star should go on Friday, Oct. 10, from 9 to 11 a.m. when Raleigh Radiology will provide free bone density screening.

Now let’s look at the classes and sessions.

There will be two days of a special hour, Memory Crafts with Heartland Hospice: the two Tuesdays on Oct. 7 and 21 from 10 to 11 a.m.

Remember that the Northern Wake Senior Center line dancers, the Carolina Steppers, will perform at the North Carolina State Fair during Senior Day, Tuesday, Oct. 21, at both 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The center, which is owned by the Town of Wake Forest and operated by Resources for Seniors, has a healthy line-up of daily activities. It is free and open to everyone; a great place to make friends if you are new to town.
