*Shops and studios will be open until 9 p.m. Friday in Wake Forest for Art After Hours. Come downtown for artist receptions, music, food and free carriage rides

*The Wake Forest Farmers Market will be open its regular summer hours, 8 a.m. to noon, on Saturday, July 12, in the parking lot behind CVS.

*Robert Patton, grandson of the World War II general, will speak about his grandfather during a program and book-signing from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 13, a part of the Wake Forest in World War II exhibit at the Wake Forest Historical Museum. The program is free and open to all.

*The Wake Forest Board of Commissioners will hold a regular meeting Tuesday, July 15, in Wake Forest Town Hall beginning at 7 p.m.

*The first Writers Night in the Forest at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre will be held Thursday, July 17, from 7 to 9 p.m. See article in this week’s edition for more information.

*Scrap Happens & Open Craft Night will be the event at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre Friday, July 18, beginning at 5 p.m.

*Saturday, July 26, Paschal Golf Club will host a Four Chance Hole in One Tournament to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. See details in this week’s issue.

*The Malpass Brothers will perform at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre Saturday, July 26, starting at 7:30 p.m. Advance tickets are $15 and are available now; at the door tickets will be $18.

*Concert in the Park, an evening of hymns and gospel music at E. Carroll Joyner Park beginning at 5 p.m. It will feature The Branchettes with Wilbur Tharpe and Lena Mae Perry. The concert is free.

*The Forest Storytelling Festival will be held at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre Saturday, Aug 9. See article in this week’s issue for more information.

*The Greater Franklin County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the 25th Annual Tar River Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, in downtown Louisburg.
