James Albert ‘J.A.’ Jackson Jr.

Nov. 26, 1952 – July 7, 2014

James Albert “J.A.” Jackson Jr., 61, of Youngsville passed away early Monday morning, July 7, 2014, at WakeMed as a result of complications from a stroke and declining health.

J.A. was friendly and was known for telling funny stories and making everybody laugh. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and living and working on the family farm that he was raised on. For many years J.A. drove commercial eighteen-wheeler trucks for different businesses and operated heavy equipment for Height Construction Company as long as he was physically able.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, July 9, 2014, at the Jackson Family Cemetery, 798 Darius Pearce Road, Youngsville.

J.A. is survived by his mother, Genavee Jackson; sons, Jimmy Jackson and Johnathan Jackson; daughter, Jennifer Jackson; step-son, Danny Michael Joyner; nephew, Brad Jackson; great-nephew, Braeden Jackson; sister-in-law, Patricia Jackson; grandsons, Justin and Jordan Jackson; step-grandchildren, Angela, Kaitlin, and Bryson Joyner; special closest friends and caregivers, Garland Canady and Judy Fletcher. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Jackson; brother, Guy Jackson; and by his nephew, Bud Jackson.

William Hawkins Howard Jr.

William Hawkins Howard Jr., 81, of Wake Forest died Saturday, July 5, 2014. He was born in Charlotte, the son of the late Martha Pearl Ware and the late William Hawkins Howard Sr. of Melbourne, Fla. After graduation from Franklin County High School in Winchester, Tenn.; service in the U.S. Naval Reserves; college; and working as an Electronics Engineer in the aerospace and telecom business, Bill was the founder and CEO of TX Sales in Fort Wayne, Ind., and W. Howard Associates in Denver, Colo., an electronic manufacture representative firm.

Bill Howard was recognized as a leader in the sales and marketing of critical components to the defense and commercial electronics systems market for over 40 years. In recent years he was the co-founder, with his wife Louise, of the Lions Gate Inn B&B in the historic district of Wake Forest. He served as President of the Wake County Historic Society and was active in Wake Forest Rotary and a member of the American Legion.

A memorial service will be held at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, July 9, 2014, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 834 Durham Road, Wake Forest. A reception will follow at the church parish hall.

Mr. Howard is survived by his wife, Louise C. Howard of Wake Forest, and son, W. Brant Howard and wife, Margaret, of Parker, Colo., three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Ann Marie Turner

Ann Marie Turner, a resident of Franklinton, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Transitions Life Care in Raleigh. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at 3 p.m. at the Gethsemane Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2525 Sanderford Road, Raleigh, with the Rev. Dr. Larry E. Johnson and Pastor Herbert Anderson officiating.

Ann was born in Montgomery, Ala., to the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie (Anna Dukes) Johnson on January 15, 1926.

As a young adult she moved to New York, N.Y., where she realized her educational pursuit by attending the Washington Business Institute. Upon graduation, she was afforded several employment opportunities where she could utilize her business skills. She retired from a productive business career in 1996 and moved to Franklinton. In 2000 she was employed at North Carolina State University, where she served as customer service representative in the cashier’s office. She retired from this position in 2011.

Ann was a faithful, dedicated and supportive member of the Franklinton Seventh-day Adventist Church. She supported her church with her presence, her gifts and her influence.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Anna Johnson, her two sons; Charles and William Bateman; and her god-daughter Renee Talmadge; three brothers, Charlie, Eddie and Carnell; and two sisters, Hazel Nell and Jean.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of fifty-five years, Mr. William Turner of Franklinton; one son, Richard (Ernestine) Bateman, New York, N.Y.; one sister, Laura (Bennie) Smith, Montgomery, Ala.; one brother William (Mary) Johnson, Columbus, Ohio,; one daughter-in-law, Melba Bateman, Montgomery, Ala.; two grandsons, Charles and William Bateman; one granddaughter Arnett (Antoine) Davis; one goddaughter, Marsha (Terry) David, Roger, Ark.; six great-grandchildren, Troi, Christina, Charles and William Bateman, Kiara Richardson and Kyla Davis; two sisters-in-law, Major Carrie Turner (Retired, U.S. Army) and Carolyn (Joyce) Turner; and her best friend of 61 years, Roxanna Talmadge, Stone Mountain, Ga.

Ann was blessed with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her biological and extended family, she will be missed by her Franklinton and Gethsemane Church families.

Robert Saxon Hill

Robert Saxon Hill, 89, of Wake Forest passed away at home Monday, June 30, 2014, after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Jean.

Bob was born in 1925 in Jersey City, N.J., the son of Harold and Nina (Saxon) Hill. He was a proud veteran of WWII, serving as a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corp. After the war, he graduated from Pace University and worked in finance for a succession of companies, including Bowater, Inc. as the CFO. He was both a deacon and an elder in the Presbyterian Church, serving congregations in New Jersey, Florida, and North Carolina.

In addition to his wife Jean of 59 years, Bob is survived by his five daughters, Cathy Hill of Richmond, Va., Cindy Hill of Worthington, Mass,, Cricket Robinson of Huntington Beach, Calif., Debbi Mygatt of Ridgefield, Conn., and Denise Ruterbories of Raleigh, as well as 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday morning, July 12, 2014, at Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church, 7506 Falls of Neuse Road, Raleigh, NC 27615.

Robert G. ‘Bob’ Keith Jr.

Robert “Bob” Gentry Keith Jr., 33, of Holly Ridge, formerly of Wake Forest, died Friday July 4, 2014, at his residence. He was born in Guilford County, the son of Robert G. “Joe” Keith Sr. and the late Sharon Hogan Keith.

Bob was a graduate of Wake Forest-Rolesville High School and attended Catawaba College. After college he joined the U.S. Marine Corp where he obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant and was an ordinance specialist with Harrier Jets and later light helicopters. He served two tours of duty in Iraq and a tour with the 22nd MEU on the Mediterranean Sea before becoming disabled and retiring from corps.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, July 10, 2014, in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Faile officiating. Burial will follow in the Wake Forest Town Cemetery with full military and Patriot Guard Honors.

Bob is survived by his father, Robert G. “Joe” Keith of Wake Forest; a sister, Kim Keith Griffith and husband, J.C., of Wake Forest; a niece, Peyton Bucher; nephew, Zachary Langenberg; uncle and aunt, LeBaron and Beverly Keith of Youngsville; aunt, Beverly Hogan of Farmville; and by a cousin, Robert “Jack” Williams of Angier. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert Richard Keith and Hazel Woodlief Keith.

Beulah Frazier Caudle

Beulah Frazier Caudle, 93, of Wake Forest died Friday, July 4, 2014, after an extended illness. She was born in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Wiley Jackson Frazier and Florence Young Caudle.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon, July 13, 2014, at Glen Royal Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Falls Community Cemetery.

Beulah was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Oscar Caudle; two sons, Samuel Isham Caudle and Donald Edward Caudle; one sister, Elizabeth Bartholomew; and by one brother, Thomas Mason.

She is survived by one daughter, Peggy Woodlief of Youngsville; one son, Johnny R. Caudle of Fuquay-Varina; one sister, Ruth Denton of Wake Forest; four grandchildren, Marianne Morris (Danny), Bryan Woodlief (Angela), Gloria Woodlief and Jeffrey Caudle (Jennie); eight great-grandchildren, Ashley, Lindsey and Daniel Morris, Hayden Woodlief, Chancellor, Mikenley, Kambree and Treyton Caudle; and two great-great-grandchildren, Jackson and Riley Morris.
