*Music at Midday on Thursday, June 9, an hour beginning at 12:15 p.m. in Centennial Plaza in front of the Wake Forest Town Hall with music to be announced. There will be several food and dessert trucks on Brooks Street. Thursday will be the last Music at Midday this year.

*The Wake Forest Farmers Market will be open in Renaissance Plaza on Saturday, June 11, with its regular spring, summer and fall hours, 8 a.m. to noon.

*The Wake Forest Charity Car Show sponsored by Wake Forest Downtown will be held Saturday, June 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on South White Street in historic downtown Wake Forest. This year’s charity car show benefits Tri-Area Ministry, Wake Forest Optimist Club, Wake Forest Kiwanis Club, Wake Forest Woman’s Club, and the Wake Forest High School JROTC. Donations of peanut butter and jelly will be accepted during the car show to benefit Tri-Area Ministry.

*The VFW’s 11th annual Spaghetti Dinner in honor of Flag Day will be held Tuesday, June 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Border Restaurant, 712 North Main Street. Tickets are $5 each and are available from VFW members or at the door.

*The Forest of Wake StoryFest with storytelling workshops and open mic will take place Saturday, Aug. 6, from noon to 9 p.m. at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre for the Arts on Brooks Street. Daniel M. Blaisdell, Lona Bartlett and Donna Washington will be featured.

*The Wake Forest Purple Heart Dinner will be held Saturday, Aug. 6, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in a new location, the Richland Creek Community Church on Burlington Mills Road. Go to www.WakeForestPurpleHeartFoundation.org for information about the group.

*The first Wake Forest Home & Garden Show hosted by the Renaissance Centre will take place Saturday and Sunday, August 13 and 14. The hours will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday. A variety of exhibits and workshops will be offered. Contact Anna Bolton – abolton@wakeforestnc.gov – to reserve a booth.

*This is definitely a ways away, but dog and pet lovers will want to mark their calendars for Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24 and 25, when the fourth annual Dirty Dogs Pet Extravaganza will take place in E. Carroll Joyner Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. One of the events will be the Ultimate Air Dogs competition and show. More later.
