The rate of homebuilding in Wake Forest spiked in May when builders pulled permits for 47 single-family houses and eight townhouses.
There have been only 103 permits issued in 2014 for residences, 96 single-family houses and seven townhouses.
There were also permits in May for two commercial buildings. One is for a maintenance building at the Smith Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant at 8505 Ligon Mill Road owned by the Raleigh’s Public Utilities Department. It will be constructed by SBC Contracting with an estimated value of $415,896, and the fees were $5,267.47. The other is for a shell building at 1601 Heritage Commerce Court to be built by JMJ Commercial with an estimated value of $350,000 with fees of $16,494.78. The owner is H&C Holdings of Raleigh which owns several other buildings and condominiums on that street and on Capcom Avenue. H&C Holdings is owned by Charles C. Sites and Holly K. Nicholson.
The eight townhouses are all in the retirement complex in Caveness Farm Apartments and will be built by CH Construction of NC on Blue Bird Lane and Winter Wren Circle. The total estimated value is $1,364,000 and the total fees paid were $40,118.25.
