Brief Bits

Apparently there will be a Panera Breads restaurant in Wake Forest. Assistant Planning Director Charlie Yokley said this week, “Panera is looking to locate in the Carolina Ale House parking lot, but they have not submitted an official application to date.” It will be interesting to see how a restaurant can share a parking lot with something as busy as Carolina Ale House.

Publix will be joined by several other shops in the Heritage Village shopping center now under construction at the intersection of Rogers Road and Forestville Road. Dan O’Neill, a managing partner with Columbia Properties Inc., said this week that Chronic Tacos, Rudino’s Pizza, Vi’s Nails, Sports Clips, Mr. Mikes Used Books and Heritage Cleaners have all signed leases. The company is negotiating with a number of other possible tenants for the remaining 10,000 square feet of space in the flex retail portion of the small shopping center.

There will not be a planning board meeting on Feb. 1 because there are no projects ready for the board’s review. The town board will hold a work session that night at 5:30 p.m.

There is a rumor that a Hobby Lobby store will locate in Wake Forest, but Yokley had not heard anything from them. If you have some information, please pass it on to the editor at cwpelosi@aol.com.

A reader sent a note about a new Mexican restaurant that was not in any of the lists for new businesses in Wake Forest Crossing shopping center. It is Don Julio, located in the same building as Cici’s Pizza, and she says it is her new favorite.

The grand opening for the new subdivision, Holding Village, will be held from 12 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6. Since it is winter, there will be sledding on artificial snow along with several food trucks – American Meltdown, Will & PopsBurgers and Humble Pig BBQ – and tailgating games. You can tour all four builder models and someone will win a 50-inch Samsung Ultra HD Smart TV.

  1. Several years ago, Cracker Barrel was said to be interested in a site near the Olive Garden. The Town of WF was going to require a brick construction, so Cracker Barrel discontinued talks. It would be wonderful to have a Cracker Barrel in Wake Forest. Any chance the Town would forego the brick construction requirement, if that was the problem? Maybe we could get them to come back. Morrisville is a long way to the nearest Cracker Barrel.

  2. It would be wonderful if the Town of WF would “romance” Whole Foods to build a store here!! Wonderful!!
