A restaurant boom in March

Wake Foresters can look forward to a restaurant boom in March or even sooner if all the plans are come to fruition, which seems likely.

We all know Bruno’s, the upscale restaurant in Wakefield, and soon we can become familiar with Bruno’s Trattatoria at 1248 South Main Street, an older house which was most recently The Fig and before that The Well. Bruno’s Trattatoria will serve lunches; it is unclear whether it will also be open for dinner.

It will definitely be March for Bu-Ku, which will occupy space at 1228 Heritage Link Drive next to Wine 101. The building is still under construction. Bu-Ku in Raleigh bills itself as offering “global street food” and might prosper from proximity to the wine and beer store. Leli’s Diner has done well next to Wine 101’s current location.

A Goodberry’s frozen custard stand or restaurant is being planned for Capcom Avenue, though no word at this time about its opening date.

East Coast Wings will be flying in soon to Suite 168 at 12646 Capital Boulevard, Wake Forest Crossing shopping center anchored by Lowes Foods and Kohl’s.

  1. Yes, finally another great place to eat! Can not wait for Bu-Ku and the new Wine 101 location. Thankful for a Bruno’s spin-off to move into the old Fig place. Exciting! Such a great space! Way to move forward WF!

      1. Penn Station Sandwich shop actually would be pretty dang good, but run more like the one in Southpoint area of Durham and not like the one in N. Raleigh. Sandwich shops need to keep in mind the importance of great bread…anybody can get decent meat and cheese quality by buying Boar’s Head, but great bread….dang, we have to drive over 30 miles for that at La Farm in Cary. Next best is Gugelhupf in Durham, again 30+ mile drive–it’s a shame really, especially considering all the migrants from up north where there are outstanding sandwich shops, not to mention excellent Italian bread.
