Shop for Thanksgiving at the market

Have you ordered your Thanksgiving turkey from one of the farmers at the Wake Forest Farmers Market? Made sure you can get all the sweet potatoes and collards you will need? You can feed your family from the market and make your holiday meals healthy and nutritious.

The market will be open for its winter hours, 10 a.m. to noon, in the parking lot at Renaissance Plaza at the corner of Brooks Street and Elm Avenue. Be sure to mark your calendar for the special Pre-Thanksgiving Market on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 24, from 3 to 5 p.m. On the Saturday after Thanksgiving there will not be a market. There will be a Holiday Craft Market on Dec. 5 with unique products from local artisans.

Most of the usual vendors are still at the market every Saturday, and you can still find fall greens, including salad greens and spinach, as well as home-grown tomatoes, sweet potatoes, salted peanuts in the shell, amazing chocolate candy, locally roasted coffee, pasture-raised meat, poultry, eggs, seafood fresh from the coast, honey and bee products, dried wreaths and bouquets, baked goods, artisan breads, and funky and artistic yard art.

You can always check www.wakeforestmarket.org for information about the vendors and the special visitors each week. If you want to know who will be at the market each week, go to the website and sign up for the weekly listing from Market Manager Robin Hendricks. Ask to be added to the Friends of Wake Forest Farmers Market.
