Go to Rolesville Saturday, Sept. 12, for a good time at the sixth annual Hot Pick’n Finger Lick’n BBQ and Bands Festival and Competition from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Redford Place Drive just off the intersection of Rogers Road and Main Street near the ball fields.
Over 20 teams will compete for the trophies in the chicken, ribs, and whole hog BBQ competitions. Top winners will be eligible to compete in the state contest in October.
According to Sherwood Bobbitt, chairman of the Chamber Board of Directors, “One of the great things about being able to taste up to 10 different teams’ barbecue is that it gives the opportunity to truly taste the different styles in cooking.”
This family-friendly day of food, fun, and entertainment includes activities and inflatables for the kids, including a rock wall, laser tag, games of skill, and bounce houses.
Music will be provided by four bands headlined by the Whiskey River Band. An array of vendors will offer a unique shopping opportunity.
Pre-sales of plates has begun at a $1 discount per plate of the regular prices. One-meat and two-meat plates, including two sides and a soft drink, are available. Beer lovers will be able to purchase suds at the event for an additional cost. To purchase your plates in advance, please call The Rolesville Buzz at (919) 554-4797. Local delivery will be available for orders of 10 or more plates upon request. Call for details.
The festival and competitions are sponsored by the Rolesville Chamber of Commerce. The competitions are sanctioned by the North Carolina Pork Council.
