Take the survey, help update our Community Plan

The Town of Wake Forest has started the process of updating the Community Plan and creating a Future Land Use Map, and we need your input. Between now and the end of November, Wake Forest residents, business owners and community stakeholders are invited to complete an online survey on current conditions within the town. Citizen feedback will be used to formulate an understanding of key issues, community desires, weaknesses and strengths of the Town that will help create the foundation for the Wake Forest Community Plan Update and Future Land Use Map. Available at www.wakeforestnc.gov/community-plan, the survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.  The Town of Wake Forest currently relies on the adopted Town of Wake Forest Community Plan and Growth Strategies Map as a policy-based comprehensive plan with an action agenda to achieve implementation. Nominations needed for annual awards

The Wake Forest Community Council is seeking award nominations of local individuals and organizations that have contributed exemplary volunteer efforts to our community. Nominations are due by noon on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2020, and may be completed and submitted online at http://tiny.cc/pvkucz. Those submitting the online form will receive a confirmation upon receipt. Those choosing not to complete/submit the online form may pick up a hard copy at the entrance of The Forks Cafeteria & Catering at 339 South Brooks Street in downtown Wake Forest. Completed forms must be dropped off before the Oct. 21 deadline at the Wake Forest Town Hall front desk at 301 South Brooks Street or mailed to Wake Forest Community Council, PO Box 1003, Wake Forest, NC 27588. Vet groups sponsor Legionnaires golf tournament

It isn’t too late to register for the fourth annual American Legion Post 187 Legionnaire Golf Tournament. The tournament will be held at the Brevofield Golf Links October 19, 2020 with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. A rain date has been planned for October 20, 2020. According to Tournament Director Mike Janssen, “This year we are only seeking corporate sponsors. We will use last year’s hole sponsors as a courtesy to last year’s sponsors.” Individual entry fee is $60 and teams of four entry fee will be $225 before October 1, 2020; after Oct 1 individual fees will be $70 and teams $250. Overall winner of the tournament will receive a 40-inch color smart television with a complete wall mounting bracket. Neighborhoods to see changes in trash, recycling in October

The Town of Wake Forest and Republic Services have coordinated trash, recycling and yard waste collection re-routes that beginning Monday, Oct. 5, will shift collection days for many residents in the following neighborhoods:   Adams Ridge Bowling Green Cardinal Hills Crenshaw Hall Crenshaw Manor Deacons Ridge Downtown Wake Forest Edgeford Parks Everly Forest Mill Green Acres Heath Ridge Village Heritage Holding Village Home Garden Homestead at heritage Mangum North Hampton Oakwood Estates Retreat at Renaissance Richland Hills Stonegate Not every street in these neighborhoods will be impacted. Affected residents will receive a postcard in the mail and decal on their rollout trash cart that reads “Your Solid Waste Service Day is Changing.” The information pieces will identify the resident’s new trash, recycling and yard waste collection days.
