Neighborhoods to see changes in trash, recycling in October

The Town of Wake Forest and Republic Services have coordinated trash, recycling and yard waste collection re-routes that beginning Monday, Oct. 5, will shift collection days for many residents in the following neighborhoods:

  • Adams Ridge
  • Bowling Green
  • Cardinal Hills
  • Crenshaw Hall
  • Crenshaw Manor
  • Deacons Ridge
  • Downtown Wake Forest
  • Edgeford Parks
  • Everly
  • Forest Mill
  • Green Acres
  • Heath Ridge Village
  • Heritage
  • Holding Village
  • Home Garden
  • Homestead at heritage
  • Mangum
  • North Hampton
  • Oakwood Estates
  • Retreat at Renaissance
  • Richland Hills
  • Stonegate

Not every street in these neighborhoods will be impacted. Affected residents will receive a postcard in the mail and decal on their rollout trash cart that reads “Your Solid Waste Service Day is Changing.” The information pieces will identify the resident’s new trash, recycling and yard waste collection days.

The revised collection schedule is in response to the significant growth experienced throughout much of Wake Forest over the past several years. Republic Services officials say adjusting the routes will help balance the number of homes that must be serviced each day.

Again, the new weekly collection schedule will take effect Monday, Oct. 5. In an effort to allow affected residents to adjust to their new collection day, Town staff or Republic Services will return to collect trash and/or recycling not put out on time for the first three weeks of the new schedule. To report a missed collection, visit www.wakeforestnc.gov/public-works/solid-waste and complete the “Report a Missed Trash/Recycling Collection” form.

The Waste Wizard makes it easy for Wake Forest residents to stay informed about the Town’s trash, recycling and yard waste collection programs, including changes to their normal collection schedules. Available on the Town’s website at  http://bit.ly/TOWFWasteWizard,the Waste Wizard is an interactive tool that allows users to sign up for waste collection reminders and download collection schedules. The resource also allows users to type in key words related to disposable household materials and receive valuable disposal tips. From aluminum cans and phone books to popcorn bags and plastic beverage bottles, the search tool helps residents determine which items can be recycled and which ones should be thrown away. As a bonus, the Waste Wizard is provided as a function on the Town of Wake Forest app.
