You are the jury for ‘Defamation’

The Wake Forest Renaissance Centre for the Arts will present the nationally acclaimed courtroom drama “Defamation” on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. Defamation explores the highly charged issues of race, religion, gender, class and the law with an exciting twist – the audience is the jury. More than a play Defamation offers a unique opportunity for community members to engage in civil discourse about the most pressing social issues of our day. Advance tickets are $15 plus tax for adults and $12 plus tax for students and seniors. These prices reflect a savings of $3 per adult and student/senior “day of” admission tickets. Swing your partner

Put on your dancing shoes for an evening of family fun as the Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) Department hosts a Barn Dance on Friday, Oct. 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. The dance will be held inside the Wake Forest Community House, 133 W. Owen Ave. The event promises fun for the entire family and all ages are welcome. The cost is $5 in advance and $6 at the door. Koinonia fall event postponed

The Koinonia Foundation has announced that its Fall into Autumn event has been postponed due to weather.  As soon as this fundraiser has been rescheduled, those new dates and times will be shared.  Stay tuned and stay dry!   Nothing says ‘Happy Fall Y’all’ more than a house decorated with pumpkins and mums.  This year, a local charity wants you to buy your autumn decorations Friday and Saturday, Oct. 2 and 3, on the front lawn of the Wake Forest Historical Museum. The Koinonia Foundation, which is celebrating its 25th year of serving neighbors in need, will host its first annual Fall Into Autumn: Pumpkins, Mums & More event on the museum’s front lawn at 414 North Main Street, Wake Forest. Locally-grown flowers and pumpkins, as well as refreshments, will be available from noon until 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2 , and  8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3.

Peter John ‘Pete’ Mickschutz Jr. Wake Forest Peter John Mickschutz Jr., aka: Pete, went home to be with the Lord on September 26, 2015. He was born on August 31, 1943, to Peter J. Mickschutz Sr. and Alice C. (nee Harvey) in Trenton, N.J. Pete graduated from Hamilton High School West in Trenton, N.J., in 1962. After high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Army for three years. Pete began his 28-year IBM career in 1965 in Dayton, N.J. He and his family moved from Chesterfield, N.J., to Culpeper, Va., in 1971 with his IBM transfer to Manassas, Va.  One final transfer to the Research Triangle moved Pete and his family to Wake Forest in 1976. He is survived by Phyllis Clayton Mickschutz, his wife of 49 years; daughters, Lisa Chappell and husband Perry of Rolesville; grandsons, Benjamin, Alec, and Kyle; Ann Marie Stewart and husband Scott of Apison,
