Half the cash? Yes, for the right ticket

It was begun over 20 years ago in a Sunday school class, and it has grown to help people and families in need in all corners of Wake Forest.

The Koinonia Foundation’s only fund-raising event will be the dinner with silent and live auctions on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 5:30 p.m. at The Forks Cafeteria. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the door.

This year you can take home half the cash raised by the event if you win the raffle. Board member Lisa McLemore said people are excited about this new wrinkle. The raffle tickets are $5 for one, $10 for three and $20 for ten. You can buy them on line or at the dinner.

In the past six years, Koinonia has raised over $250,000 to help local food pantry Tri-Area Ministries that serves over 500 families, a network of churches that provide rent and utilities to families in crisis through Churchnet, and Backpack Buddies, weekly backpacks full of food for hungry children who attend local schools.

This year Koinonia will highlight and help Safe Space, a local shelter for domestic violence victims.

Currently, Koinonia board members are asking or tax-deductible products or services for the auction and sponsors. Next, they want you to attend the auction and bid, bid, bid.

For more information about donating and sponsoring, go to www.koinoniawf.org or auction@koinoniawf.org or call Lynnette Beadle at 919-801-7726.
