Gambling for youth, betting on the young

For 30 years the Trentini Foundation has been betting on the town’s young men and women, providing scholarships to graduating seniors at Wake Forest and Heritage high schools.

To provide the $41,000 needed annually for those scholarships, the foundation relies on fund-raising and donations. This year’s premier fundraising event is Casino Night, which will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in The Mill Room at The Factory.

Tickets are $50 per person and purchased in advance at www.trentinifoundation.org. Tickets include casino tickets, drink tickets and light hors d’oeuvres.

Currently, the foundation provides one $30,000 scholarship at Wake Forest High, with smaller scholarships at both Wake Forest and Heritage. There is a long-range effort to build the endowment to provide equal scholarships at both schools.
