Once again the Mad Hatter’s Tea & Garden Party will return to North Main Street and the Wake Forest Historical Museum with its traditional afternoon tea, garden and historic tours, a classic car show and sales of locally grown plants.
The date is Saturday, May 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
You will only need tickets for the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, three separate seatings from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., where you will be delighted by the fine silver, English tea, finger sandwiches and sweets. The $20 tickets are available on line at www.wfgardenclub.org or Facebook at Wake Forest Garden Club. You can also purchase tickets at The Cotton Company, Ollie’s Café and Page 158 Books. On the day of the party, you can also buy tickets at the Wake Forest Garden Club tent for $25 as long as they are available.
All the other events and activities are free. There are two guided tours, one is of the Wake Forest Historical Museum and the second is a tour of historic North Main Street. The car show will feature classic cars owned by local car aficionados who are always ready to talk about their treasures. If you purchase one or more of the locally grown plants you will also get expert advice on how and where to plant and care for them.
The Wake Forest Garden Club is proud to be the longest continuing community service organization in Wake Forest. It is a non-profit organization open to anyone with an interest in their mission to promote interest and education in horticulture, landscaping, floral design and environmental concerns.
Proceeds from the Mad Hatter’s Tea will benefit the Wake Forest Historical Museum gardens along with other projects supported by the Wake Forest Garden Club. These include Arbor Day, Dirt Day, plantings along North Main Street and downtown Wake Forest, local school planting projects and the Wake Forest Garden Club Flower Cart where members and friends create small floral arrangements each week for nursing home residents, shut-ins and others needing a little cheer in their day.
