Charles George, one of the town\u2019s attorneys, explained: \u201cWe did not go forward as there was a discussion about a potential resolution that required Board approval.\u00a0 We\u2019ve not finalized the specifics yet to present to the Board, but we would expect it to be resolved soon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>* * * *<\/p>\n<p>The once controversial Wake Forest Fire Department Station #4 on Jenkins Road is nearly complete. After hearing Commissioner Ann Reeve last week remark on her recent tour of the station: \u201cIt is a really nice facility,\u201d the editor asked Fire Chief Ron Early when there would be an official ribbon-cutting and tour.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are shooting for the first or second week in March, working on the date now. We are trying to make sure that the punch list is done and the personnel have a chance to get moved in and prepare the station.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>* * * *<\/p>\n<p>During Art After Hours Friday night, Feb. 12, Pam Jay at Next Consignment Boutique is inviting musicians to bring their instruments and she will provide the sound equipment for their 15-minute segments of entertainment. Customers can enjoy the music and refreshments.<\/p>\n<p>At The Cotton Company, Julia Sawyer, a Franklin Academy alumnus who has studied at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y., will be the featured artist and will be joined by Alice Osborn and music from the \u201880s and \u201890s. Sawyer works in mixed media and created the impressive chalkboards featured at Over the Falls. There will be wine samples and light refreshments.<\/p>\n<p>Two artists will be featured at the Sunflower Studio and Gallery. Linda Long will display her \u201cVintage Shadow Boxes & Jewelry\u201d and Mincie Dadwick will show her collection of paintings and childhood love of flowers, \u201cAcrylics, Watercolors & Flowers.\u201d You will also be able to see works by the six resident artists.<\/p>\n<p>* * * *<\/p>\n<p>Wakefield Rotary has changed its meeting time and place to better accommodate current and future members, and now meets for breakfast on Thursdays from 7:45 to 9 a.m. at Heritage Golf Club, 1250 Heritage Club Avenue. Since the change, Matt Archer, a co-president, said the club has gained new members and had members return who left due to lunchtime conflicts.<\/p>\n<p>Guests and potential members may attend a meeting by contacting membership chairman Allison Diego at 919-624-3674 and <a href=\"mailto:allisondiego1@gmail.com\">allisondiego1@gmail.com<\/a>. Plans are underway for this year\u2019s Lucky 13 Reverse Raffle and Taste of Wake Forest Dinner on Friday, Sept. 16, at The Factory which raises money for local youth programs.<\/p>\n<p>* * * *<\/p>\n<p>The Wendell-Wake County branch of the NAACP will offer scholarships this year to students enrolled in an accredited college, university, trade school or other institution of higher learning.
