The Wake Forest Police Department recently announced the top six high-risk intersections in Wake Forest based on the number of accidents that occurred in these areas from 2021-2023:
1. Capital Boulevard (US 1)/South Main Street/New Falls of Neuse Road – 61
2. Capital Boulevard (US 1)/Agora Drive/Wake Union Church Road – 40
3. Capital Boulevard (US 1)/Dr. Calvin Jones Highway (NC 98 Bypass) – 39
4. Capital Boulevard (US 1)/Burlington Mills Road – 32
5. Dr. Calvin Jones Highway/South Main Street (US 1) – 30
6. Capital Boulevard (US 1)/Stadium Drive/Jenkins Road – 25
Failure to reduce speed, inattention, and distracted driving were the most often cited contributing factors in these accidents.
Police officials are taking this opportunity to urge motorists to be alert and proceed with caution through these and all intersections.
To try and make the intersections safer, officers will continue conducting enforcement campaigns in and around these areas.

Why was one of the 98 westbound signal lights out for over a week?
Reported multiple times to the town . Really?
Is there a Dr. Calvin advocacy group that is charged with protecting his legacy?
I am sure he would have acquired a ladder truck from the fire department and a bulb from B&W and fixed it within an hour.
Of course someone might have needed to tell him where the ‘bypass’ is located.
“What bypass!?”
I’ll bet you are ton of fun at parties. But I will answer your snarky comment.
The signal lights are the property of NCDOT, not the town. The town cannot work on them without approval from NCDOT. NCDOT fixed them.
The Wake Forest Birthplace Society protects the legacy of Dr. Jones. If you visit the museum on the grounds, you can see his home and walk through it. You can also go inside the museum and learn of his many accomplishments.
As far as your “What bypass?” comment, I’m guessing you are one of those folks that claims we should change the name of the town to “Wake No Forest?”
