Water/sewer customers to see lower bills

Beginning Dec. 1 of this year Wake Forest water and sewer customers will see lower bills because, nine years after the Town of Wake Forest agreed that the City of Raleigh would own its water and sewer systems, the customers in Wake Forest will be paying Raleigh water and sewer rates.

“It’s pretty much a good-news story,” Robert Massengill, Raleigh’s assistant public utilities director, said this week.

He said he expects Wake Forest water and sewer customer to see a savings of $8 to $15 on their bills.

The customers can easily calculate their new costs – and many probably have already – by using this link, http://www.raleighnc.gov/services/content/FinUtilityBilling/Articles/UtilityBillingDepositFees.html. You can scroll down to the calculator.

Massengill said the savings for Wake Forest customers will come from the lower Raleigh sewer rates. Raleigh and Wake Forest water rates are now about the same but the Wake Forest sewer rate is higher.
