Wake Forest businessman Thomas Walters was honored at the annual summit of the National Association of Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) as its volunteer of the year for his ongoing support of SAVE. Thesummit was held March12 at North Carolina State University.
Walters owns three Allstate Insurance Agencies in Wake Forest and Wake County and has served on SAVE’s board of directors for six years, during which he has secured several community grants for the nonprofit and donated items for the annual summit. He also speaks at many local school events promoting teen safe driving and overall youth engagement. The Allstate Foundation and SAVE joined forces in 2005 to further engage, empower, encourage and educate students, and Walters has been a driving force in bringing that partnership to life locally.
The National Association of Students Against Violence Everywhere, a nonprofit dedicated to decreasing the potential for violence in our schools and communities, brought together students and community leaders from around the nation for its youth-led SAVE Summit on March 12. The annual conference and workshop provides students with leadership resources and support by engaging, educating and empowering them to have open conversations about violence and how to prevent it.
