Wake Forest Fire Chief Ron Early said the department is preparing to help clear roads and streets, assist the police department and other organizations and help town residents during the onslaught and after Hurricane Florence subsides. Forecasts call for heavy rain in the area for several days as the hurricane lingers.
“We are making sure that essential staff are available and possibly calling in extra personnel. Contacting all of our volunteers to determine their availability,” Early said in an email Tuesday.
Other preparations are fueling all apparatus and small equipment; stocking up on water and food to be able to provide for all personnel 24 hours a day; securing the facilities; and getting the communications prepared.
