For the second consecutive year local Veterans from Wake Forest Memorial Post 8466, Veterans of Foreign Wars have received recognition for achievement and selected as an All-State VFW Post. The All-State award is presented by the North Carolina Department Commander after a series of commitments made over and above the normally expected service for veterans and community activities. Only three active VFW Posts statewide were selected out of over 120 posts throughout the state.
Post Commander Dennis Mecum and Quartermaster Charlie Cable were presented with distinguishing VFW caps at their November 5 monthly membership meeting by District Commander Bob Carter. Also present during the ceremony was State of North Carolina and Post 8466 Chaplain Jim Dyer.
