  1. Each year the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8466 launches into these two essay contests having National recognition. It provides a great opportunity for our students to express their thoughts using good grammar and writing and speaking skills. It is a marvelous venue for middle and high school teachers to get their students involved in a program that rewards excellence but also provides competition throughout the community. It is hard to believe some teachers are not involved in such a great opportunity to have their students participate in this worthwhile endeavor. Teachers get on the band wagon and involve your school to take advantage of this opportunity. The VFW will be around again in September 2016. Lets make 2016’s contest truly a magnificent achievement.
