In an effort to bring life-saving COVID-19 shots closer to communities, Wake County has opened a new vaccination clinic in Wake Forest at the Northern Regional Center on East Holding Avenue.
The new site will offer free vaccines five days a week and will have evening and weekend hours. Most people are familiar with the regional center because it offers a lot of county services in a convenient location.
It’s not always easy for people to go to Raleigh to access county programs and services like mass vaccination clinics, and that’s exactly why these regional center exist – to bring those services to residents in communities where they live,” Ross Yeager, director of the Northern Regional Center, said. “Dozens of people already come here to vote, to get a copy of a birth certificate, to pay taxes, to search for a job, pick up free summer meals for students and more. It only makes sense for us to also offer critical vaccines to the community here.
This first week, the hours were limited the first two days but on Thursday the clinic began its regular hours. On Sundays and Wednesdays the clinic is closed. On Mondays the hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 pm. Tuesday and Thursday hours are 12:30 to 7:30 p.m. On Fridays the clinic opens at 8:30 a.m. and closes at 3:30 p.m. On Saturdays the clinic hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Vaccine appointments are available to anyone 16 and older, and the appointments usually take only half an hour, which includes the 15-minute observation period after the shot.
To get an appointment, go to www.WakeGov.com/vaccine or call the 24-hour hotline at 919-250-1515. After answering a few questions, you can immediately access the appointment schedule for a convenient appointment that suits you.
The Eastern Regional Center in Zebulon will start offering vaccines the week of May 24.
