Update for Optimist Club essay contest

How appropriate! The Wake Forest Optimist Club is holding an essay contest, and the topic is: Optimism Should Be A Priority.

The contestants must be under age 19 and have not graduated from high school. The first-place winner will receive $250 with $150 going to the second-place winner and $75 to the third-place winner. There is a chance to move to the district level where a $2,500 scholarship is the prize.

Essays are due on Feb 13, and all the rules can be found at www.optimist.org/essay. You canalso call Bill Brown at 919-345-1096 with questions.

“Young students have so many fresh ideas about the world and their future,” Club President Nicole Marsh said. “As Optimists it is our goal to encourage them and do what we can to bring out the best in each of them. This gives them a wonderful opportunity to tap into their creativity and pursue possible scholarship at the same time.”
