Tri-Area now serving 1,800 families

(This is run again to emphasize how many families are in need of food help.)

What an amazing summer it’s been! As we ease into the cooler days of fall, it’s time to break out the hoodies and embrace a new season of activities and community support.

This fall, we’re busier than ever. The number of families we serve continues to grow, and in October, we’ll be serving more than 1,800 families—our highest number yet! However, as the focus shifts to recovery efforts in Western NC, our donations have seen a significant drop. While we encourage you to support our neighbors in the west, please remember that there is also critical need right here in our community. Take a moment to check out our list of most needed items, or if it’s easier, you can order directly from our Amazon Wish List, and items will be delivered to us automatically.

For those who wish to make a monetary donation, credit cards are accepted on our website and we now offer an easy option to set up automatic monthly donations.  Every bit helps. .

Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway    Once again, we’re teaming up with the Wake Forest Police Department for our annual Turkey Giveaway, happening Monday, November 25th. We’ll be distributing 1,200 turkeys (along with the fixings) from 7:00 to 9:30 a.m., and then transitioning to regular food distribution at 10:00 a.m. We’re expecting a big turnout and will need plenty of volunteers, so if you’re able to lend a hand, please contact Donna Jamieson. Together, we’ll ensure that hundreds of families have a memorable Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Dinner Fixins Food Drive    To make sure every family receiving a turkey has all the sides for a delicious Thanksgiving meal, we’re collecting side dishes to accompany the turkeys. Please donate by November 13th to give us enough time to sort, bag, and prepare the meals. You can also find these items on our Amazon Wish List.

Chick-fil-A Food Drive    Both Wake Forest Chick-fil-A locations are hosting a Food Drive on Thursday, November 7th, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. to benefit Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry. Bring in 5 cans of food, and you’ll receive a “Be Our Guest” card for a FREE Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich. We need volunteers at both locations to collect donations during the drive. Click HERE to sign up for a shift, and make sure to note which location you’re signing up for!

Frosty Run    Mark your calendars for December 14th! The annual Frosty Run 5k/10k is happening in downtown Wake Forest, and Tri-Area Ministry will be there! All net proceeds benefit our pantry. Volunteers are needed on race day, making this a great opportunity for students in need of service hours. Visit 2024 Frosty Run for more details.

Bud’s Tavern Chili Cookoff   Our friends at Bud’s Tavern have been amazing supporters over the years, and they’re hosting a Chili Cookoff on Saturday, October 19th, from noon to 4 p.m. stop by for some delicious chili and a cold beverage—proceeds benefit Tri-Area Ministry.

Finally, a huge thank you to our incredible team of volunteers. You never cease to amaze us with your generosity, enthusiasm, and commitment. We couldn’t do what we do without YOU!
