Town of Wake Forest holiday schedules

With back-to-back holidays, the Town of Wake Forest will have schedule changes and closings over two weeks.

The Wake Forest Town Hall and other administrative offices will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 24, through Friday, Dec. 26, for the Christmas holiday. Town hall and offices will reopen Monday, Dec. 29.

Town Hall and other offices will also be closed Thursday, Jan. 1, for the New Year’s holiday, but will reopen on Friday, Jan. 2.

Police, fire and emergency services will remain at full strength and be available every day.

The Wake Forest bus service, including the Wake Forest to Raleigh express bus and the Wake Forest Loop, will not operate on Christmas Day. Both will return to their normal schedules on Friday, Dec. 26.

Both bus services will also not operate on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, but will resume their normal schedules on Friday, Jan. 2.

Garbage and recycling collection both weeks will have a change in schedule. The routes usually collected on Thursday will be collected Friday, while Friday’s routes will be collected Saturday.

Beginning Monday, Dec. 29, Wake Forest will collect and recycle old Christmas trees from residential homes according to the normal yard waste collection schedule. The trees will be ground into mulch, which will be available for free to residents upon request. Orders for mulch are currently being accepted by emailing bpearce@wakeforestnc.gov or calling 919-435-9570.

All Wake Forest residents whose yard waste is collected by the town may participate in the “Treecycling” program. To recycle your Christmas tree, please remove all decorations, tinsel, nails, stands and bags from the tree and set it behind the curb for collection. Artificial trees cannot be recycled.
