(Jill Bright sent out the following this week and said it best.)
This is a moment of unprecedented excitement for your Wake Forest Historical Museum, the town of Wake Forest, our neighbors in central North Carolina, and all history and sports lovers!
We are preparing to launch the run of Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America, a world class traveling exhibition from the Smithsonian Institution, at our museum from April 16th until May 31st.
A special event two years in the making, we are one of only six elite North Carolina locations selected to host this exhibit. It is a distinct HONOR to be chosen, and we know this will attract thousands of visitors. Groups are already reserving tours. Just this morning, a church in Greensboro arranged to bring 25 visitors to see this exhibit. We encourage your family, business, club, team, organization…..to support, be a volunteer, and visit us for this one of a kind experience.
Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America is the latest installment in the prestigious Museum on Main Street program (MoMS), a series of exhibits designed to illuminate the shared heritage and indomitable spirit of small town America. No longer locked into the larger galleries of Washington D.C., this traveling exhibition gives visitors a rare chance to experience the excellence of the Smithsonian, right here on North Main Street. Wow! We will also have an area for local sports items, unique programs with local speakers, and can host private tours during these weeks. You know you should be a part of this!!!
Celebrate with a Sponsorship!
You—our community—make events of this caliber possible. We are grateful for your continuing support and ask that you get involved in making this exhibit a memorable experience for every museum visitor. As they come from far and wide, we’ll show the best of Wake Forest!
With your sponsorship, guests will see your name on our printed materials. We will be directing visitors to local businesses for shopping, lunch, and overnight stays. This is a chance to help share and support your museum, and the Wake Forest area!
The museum is seeking to offset the cost of the facility upgrades, maintenance, custodial services, and additional staff required for this exhibit. All exhibit sponsors will receive invitations to the big event—a Preview Party on April 16, where you will be first to glimpse this exciting exhibition! The deadline to be included on most printed materials is by next Tuesday, March 10.
You may contact the museum at 919-556-2911 for more information. Ed, Jennifer, Durward, Tom or Jill will gladly come by and pick up your check. We also ask that you forward this exciting news, invitation and sponsorship levels to many of your friends, business associates, community contacts and all history/sports fans. PLEASE consider this one time gift as your part in making this historical presentation at our museum a huge success.
