There are three vacancies on the nine-member Cemetery Advisory Board, and all town residents and those living in its extraterritorial jurisdiction are eligible to apply.
The board advises the Wake Forest Town Board and town staff about policies and improvements at the historic Wake Forest Cemetery at 400 North White Street.
The online advisory board application is available on the Town’s website at www.wakeforestnc.gov/advisory-board-application.aspx<http://www.wakeforestnc.gov/advisory-board-application.aspx>. Anyone without computer access may apply by using the computer kiosks in the lobby of town hall at 301 Brooks Street, and people can request hard copies by calling or emailing Executive Assistant Cathi Pope at 919-435-9467 or cpope@wakeforestnc.gov<mailto:cpope@wakeforestnc.gov>. Completed applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27.
Applicants are expected to attend the Cemetery Advisory Board meeting on either Wednesday, Aug. 22, or Sept. 26, to introduce themselves to the board’s current members and discuss why they wish to serve. The board meets at 7 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month in town hall in a room best reached from the Taylor Street entrance. The meeting room is on the hall to the left as you enter, not the large meeting room near the entrance door.
After interviewing all the applicants, the six current members will make a recommendation to the town board, which will announce the new appointments during its meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 16.
