Threat locked down Heritage schools

Wednesday morning a threat on social media made by someone outside North Carolina resulted in a code red lockdown of the Heritage High School campus and a precautionary code yellow status at the nearby Heritage Middle School and Heritage Elementary.

The Wake Forest Police Department was notified at 8:24 a.m. and immediately began investigating. “After investigating, the authorities determined there was no intruder on campus. The threat was made on social media by an individual who was not in North Carolina. No students were in danger at any time,” a spokesman for the Wake County Public School System said in an email sent out at 11 a.m.

She added, “We greatly appreciate the relationship we have with law enforcement and WCPSS Security in responding to such situations. They work closely with us to ensure the safety of our students every day.”
