Spiff up with Flower Power

The nonprofit community-service Wake Forest Woman’s Club must raise the funds it uses to do good work around Wake Forest. One fundraising effort has members baking and crafting to present tasty and appealing items for sale at Wake Forest High School’s Battalion Bazaar in the school gym on March 12. At the same event, they’ll “dig in” to sell flower bulbs, seeds and plants through Flower Power, a nationally recognized collaboration “planted” by two mail-order gardening companies and now owned by Vesey’s Seeds Ltd.

Flower Power allows clubs to sell quality products with the ease of online purchasing, while earning half the profits – profits that Wake Forest Woman’s Club will “plow” into the community through service projects including school tutoring and proctoring, free books in laundromats, an annual scholarship contest for area students, support of the military and first responders, assistance at town events and supporting local helping programs with time and money, including Tri-Area Ministry and Backpack Buddies.

Spring is coming, and purchased materials will arrive in plenty of time for planting. They are all backed with a 100 percent guarantee.

Help the Wake Forest Woman’s Club make our community better. Find our booth at Wake Forest High School’s Battalion Bazaar on March 12 and browse the goodies. Or, to shop the Flower Power offerings from your home, visit www.flowerpowerfundraising.com/campaign?campaign_id=22639, and delight over the wealth of plant material available, from Dutch irises and coneflowers to hummingbird and butterfly garden mixes; from summer bulb gardens to herb gardens. Each order will be charged only $6 shipping, regardless of order size, and will be delivered right to your door.

The Wake Forest Woman’s Club has been improving the community since 1961. Membership is open to local women. For more information, please send an email to wakeforestwomansclub@gmail.com or visit wake-forest-womans-club.com or facebook.com/WakeForestWomansClub.
